10: Personal experience: Len Bose is a well-known yacht broker, yachting enthusiast, and harbor columnist. His passion for yachting started in 1975 when his father purchased a Hobie 16. While attending Orange Coast College he immediately found the sailing team. Not being a naturally talented sailor, he found himself having to work harder to keep par with the team. Hard work leads him to lettering that year and the following year. He was then asked to coach the OCC sailing team for two years. Bose’s yachting enthusiasm lead him to yacht sales where he has been for the last 32 years with over 500 sales. Starting his career at Ardell Yacht and Ship Brokers, “Working at Ardell Yacht and Ship Brokers trained me to the highest of industry standards, and has proven to be invaluable to me over my entire career.” Bose said. During this time his interest in racing grew, competing in one design boats such as the Schock 35’s, Lido 14’s, and now Harbor 20’s with his wife, of 29 years, Jennifer Bose. His offshore sailing experience is extensive with over 42 races down Baja California, 12 Trans Pac’s and 2 Pacific Cups. Over the last eight years, he has been the skipper on the Santa Cruz 50 Horizon accumulating two division wins in Trans Pac, a Santa Cruz 50/52 course record in Trans Pac 2021, Puerto Vallarta overall win, 3 Division titles in the NHYC Cabo Race, Ensenada overall win, and an overall CORW win.Other achievements include Balboa Yacht Clubs “Sportsman of The Year”,  Bahia Corinthian Yacht Clubs Newport Harbor Yachtsman of the year “Edward F. Kennedy Memorial Trophy”, and Harbor 20’s Fleet 1 Arthur B Strock Service Award for outstanding service for the fleet. “ My greatest achievement has been the eight clients that have become my closest friends, fulfilling their lifetime dreams from 35’ Sailboats to large expedition trawlers,” Bose said.
